Prior to redeeming points, there are some steps you should take in order to be prepared.
Signup for major airline frequent flyer programs
It’s completely free to signup for each program. If you’re with a Player 2, then sign them up also.
There a lots more, but start with these.
Player 1 and Player 2
If you’re with a Player 2, ensure you can pool points.
- Airline/Hotel Programs
- Here’s a post from AwardWallet here and here.
- Amex
- Ensure Player 1 is an authorized user for at least one of Player 2’s credit card.
- Ensure Player 2 is an authorized user for at least one of Player 1’s credit card.
- With the above, you’ll be able to transfer MR points from Player 1’s account to Player 2’s frequent flyer program. This can be done via the Amex website. Vice versa also.
- Bilt
- As of Jan 8, 2023, I can’t find a way to pool Bilt points.
- Chase
- Each Player needs at least 1 “Sapphire” credit card.
- You can call or chat with chase and tell them you’d like to transfer UR points from one account to another. You can transfer to a “household member”.
- Citibank
- Each Player needs at least 1 “ThankYou” credit card.
- You can transfer ThankYou points to anyone else. You have to call Citi. Some “catches” described here.
- Capital One
- Each Player needs at least 1 credit card that generates transferrable miles.
- You’ll need to call the number on the back of your card and provide the agent with the name and card number of the person to whom you would like to transfer your Rewards miles.
